The BDC is recommending that Cusack (The Charles) be given the lease, so the Senator can continue to operate as a movie theater.

I read in the paper today that Towson and WTMD pulled their bid for the Senator.

Being a Towson University Alumni notwithstanding, I strongly support the Towson University proposal. I truly feel that Baltimore is growing into an almost Austin, TX like place for it’s live and local music and art scene. It’s a natural fit in the NE, but affordable and with a top flight art school in MICA.

I used to live across from the Senator and from my first visit in ’93 during my South Carroll High School days to see Star Wars for a benefit over 3 weekend in a row, I loved the place and hope to see something great happen there in the coming months/years.

Having grown up with the Senator in my neighborhood, I feel it embodies the past and can represent the present, as well. I think all the proposals sound great except the lofts, as there is so much real estate sitting vacant now. It does not represent the heart or the history of the Senator.

Thanks for the link. People made some good points about where a listener-supported radio station or budget cutting university could get the money for the project WTMD is proposing. On the other hand a non-profit’s tax benefits would help the Senator in the long run.

How did the hearing go? Did they say when they would pick a bid? They all seem like good ideas with the exception of the loft apartments.
