BRAC Funds Giving Westport Project a Boost

Published by Jeff at 11:44 pm under Middle Branch, Uncategorized

There was an interesting article in the Sun today about how BRAC funds will be used to provide tax incentives for several projects in Maryland…including the Westport Project in South Baltimore along the Middle Branch.  It sounds like it’s giving the project the major boost it needs to move forward.  The article indicated that the developer will start construction this coming spring.

I am curious to see how this development progresses and the demographic that they are expecting to live there.

I’m guessing they will target all of the scientists and engineers that will be transferred to Ft. Meade/NSA as part of BRAC. I timed the drive the other day. It’s only about 20 minutes. It takes me longer to drive from Canton to Downtown in rush hour.

It sounds like a good group to shoot for, but with plentiful housing available in Canton/Fells/Fed Hill and the like they have a tough sell. I’m not sure they are going to be successful at attracting the economic class they are going for.
