It's an extremely somber. You can't help but wonder what can you do.

Has anyone heard of this organization, Higher Achievement? I've met some people who have gone through it in DC and I heard that they are trying to open an office in Baltimore.

This was an excellent documentary. Some takeaways:

- On parent-teacher night they have about 5% of parents/guardians show up.

- Some students are allowed to hang out in the halls rather than go into class.

- There aren't enough textbooks for the students.

- Some students graduate reading and writing at a 6th grade level.

- You have to have tremendous respect for the students who do excel in such a tough environment - where learning is secondary to discipline and "babysitting" unruly students.

- How does a camera crew not intervene while watching a boy beat up 5 girls?
