New Neighbors - Jenna Bush Moving to Baltimore

Published by Jeff at 9:14 pm under Uncategorized

Not development news, but I couldn’t resist:?

In barely more than six weeks, Henry Hager will have a new wife — Jenna Bush, as you may have heard — and a brand-new graduate degree in business. So presumably a new job is on the horizon?

According to a student at the University of Virginia’s Darden School, where Hager is in the final weeks of MBA study, Hager’s friends are buzzing that President Bush’s future son-in-law will be going to work for Baltimore-based Constellation Energy. Maryland’s largest power company declined to confirm or deny a hire, and both Darden officials and the White House declined to comment, but the chatter makes sense: Hager, 29, a former Karl Rove aide and Commerce Department staffer, interned last summer for another energy giant, ConocoPhillips, and more recently served as “VP for traditional energy” of Darden’s Energy Club, a pre-professional student group sponsored by . . . Constellation Energy.

Also: The betrothed couple has reportedly house-hunted in the Baltimore area, according to People. They’ll get hitched at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Tex., on May 10.

The Washington Post reports that it is official. Jenna Bush and Hager have apparently purchased a house in “South Baltimore” for $440,000. I’m guessing this means Federal Hill or Otterbein. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/10/AR2008041000061.html

They are moving to Charles Street, a block off of Fort Ave (if my sources are correct). That will be great for that area, to have an increase in security.

Yeah it’s kind of surprising that they bought in South Baltimore. You would think they would have a big secure house out in the county. But Charles street in general is a nice street and they are in walking distance to a bunch of good bars. Question - will the Secret Service carry them home from Mothers if they get to drunk? If so I’m buying them a drink!

Once George W is the former president there will be no Service protection for Jenna. They’ll be all on their own, just like the rest of us. http://www.secretservice.gov/protection.shtml

In the meantime, can they post a unit at the corner of Hamburg and Hanover - to keep “certain elements” out.
