Ledo Pizza in My Hood? Hell Yeah!

Published by Glen at 9:48 pm under Locust Point, Real Estate, Restaurants

pizzaSo I was reading Colleen’s blog - SoBoBlog - and very excited to hear that Ledo Pizza is apparently moving to Southside Shopping Center in Locust Point. For whatever reason my wife and I are addicted to their pizza. Maybe it’s because it’s square (how do they do that?), or maybe it’s the sauce… but nevertheless I’m pumped. My very own Ledo pizza within a couple blocks. I wonder if they will be able to acquire a liquor license for the location. Every Ledo’s I’ve ever been to serves beer & wine. But the shopping center may have restrictions because there isn’t currently any other businesses serving or selling alcohol. But that’s really not important - as long as they got the square pizza and big lasagna, I’m set. Another excuse for us not to have to cook. And yet another reason as Colleen discusses, is the opening of Luca’s Cafe on Fort Avenue. Luca’s - occupying the space that was formerly Truman’s Tavern - is serving pizza/Italian/American. Looks like eating in my area are is getting a lot better.

Now all we need is something decent to move in where Coco Moka Cafe - that poor excuse for a business - recently vacated; and I won’t have to go grocery shopping anymore. At least not as much. As to why Coco Moka closed down, I would guess having an extremely overpriced, limited, poorly targeted, and misguided menu, combined with quite possibly the slowest employees to ever work in food service industry had a lot to do with it. That place was doomed from day one. Can a Baja Fresh fit there?

I used to love pizza. Now I worry about cholesterol. Five years ago I would’ve drooled over that picture; now it looks like an edible heart attack.

I am very excited to try Luca’s Cafe and am glad a more casual fare is moving in to the neighborhood w/ hopefully some healthy menu choices too. I was actually hoping Ledo’s Pizza would move into Coco Moka - I like to steer clear of Southside Market as much as possible - but it will still beat going to Glen Burnie everytime I am craving that square yummy goodness of a pizza!

That picture doesn’t really represent my ideal pizza. I would hold the pepperoni and olives. Probably put some sliced tomatoes on top. Yum.
