Upper Fells Point - Interesting Blog

Published by Glen at 6:40 pm under Fells Point

I came across this blog post about Upper Fells Point. It’s a pretty entertaining back and forth between the author and her readers.  Ironically it came up at the top of the list when I Googled “Baltimore’s worst neighborhood”.

Actually living in Upper Fells Point I completely disagree with the author and I’m sure most of my neighbors do as well. The biggest (and only real) hurdle to living here is parking.

I’d like to point out that this was written in 2004! I have lived in UFP since 2005 and it’s only improved over the last few years. I agree with the other comment…the WORST problem is parking (lack of and people that don’t know how to park by not lining up with curbs so they take up two spaces!). Other than that, I feel safe, everyone is friendly, it’s walking distance to so much, close to the park, great restaurants/pubs and cute houses. Someone should write about UFP now and maybe this person should write an update as well!

Ironically, the Baltimore City Paper named Upper Fells Point THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD in 2006. I do agree there are a few bad blocks in UFP. However, I think this has been taken care of… The drug gang that control a few corners has been broken up and disbanded.
