Little Havana Voted Baltimore’s Best Bar
In a recent unscientific, unvalidated poll of 1 local Baltimore resident, Little Havana was voted Baltimore’s best bar.? Little Havana is located on the water at 1325 Key Highway in South Baltimore – nestled between Harborview and Locust Point.? The bar scored well on all key criteria.
-
- Outdoor seating and bar area.
-
- “Waterfront”
-
- Large enough that it never gets too packed.
-
- The bartenders are fast and reasonably friendly.
-
- Pretty good food.
-
- Blue Moon on tap.? Yeah I know men aren’t supposed to put fruit in their beer, but whatever…
-
- Walking distance from my house.

I also enjoy Little havana. But they do need to add some quality TVs. The small ones hidden behind the bar don’t cut it. Parking is the other problem there – but same goes for any bar in Fed Hill.
I live only a couple blocks from Little Havana and usually make an effort to avoid it. Never have I felt that bartenders cared less about my business or satisfaction than at this bar. In my opinion they are the most nonchalant bartenders in the Federal Hill/Locust Point area. By nonchalant, I mean that their demeanor gives me the vibe that “I’ll get your beer when I feel like it. You’ll just have to deal with that.” Short story long, my friends and I used to go for brunch regularly until we got fed up with the bartenders and their sub-par service.
That’s interesting. I have always had pretty good luck with the bartenders there. Probably because there always seems to be a few working, and it’s never overly crowded when I go. Sunday’s could be a different story – I understand it’s pretty busy for brunch.
I always hear mixed opinions there. I get the impression if you are the least bit rude, don’t tip well, or are impatient, they give you “nonchalant” service.
The bartenders are nonchalant. I may be in the minority, but I don’t need a bartender to chit chat with me, just get me a drink reasonably fast. So I think they do a decent job. Guess I will have to go back and give them another test.
I love Little Havana. It is my favorite bar in Baltimore due to its large size, convenience, and the mojitos. I think the service is just fine. No one has ever been rude to me and I have frequented the place many times.
I agree with all but Matt. My friends know the bartenders really well. two or three nights a week at the bar will build friendships. When I am there with them, the bartenders are all quick and very nice. I would imagine if they aren’t nice to you, you should take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself why you mom even liked you.
Hey all!
I’ve been to Little Havana’s a few times and I was always impressed by the ambiance and the friendliness of the bartenders. Bartender service is one aspect, but what about the quality of their training — that is, how well they actually make the drinks. I haven’t heard anybody commenting on that.
Most people probably get beers when they go there, but has anybody ever ordered something like a bloody mary, a sex on the beach, or even a simple mixed cocktail like a gin and tonic?
I’m curious b/c I didn’t order anything like that when I was there, but I know that some of the bartenders there have actually graduated from my school (I’m the director at the Maryland Bartending Academy).
Let me know if you all have, and if so, how it was. I always like to hear about past students ; )
