Port Covington Sam’s Club Closing is Official

Published by Glen under Port Covington

Baltimore Business Journal had this story on Friday.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will close its Sam’s Club in the controversial Port Covington shopping center in South Baltimore once it opens another wholesale store in Glen Burnie early next year, a Wal-Mart spokesman said.

Steven Restivo said in an e-mail that the Sam’s Club is relocating to Glen Burnie, “as part of an effort to better serve the Greater Baltimore metro area. The existing location will remain open throughout the transition, and we expect this to be complete in early 2008.”

Fundraiser to Support Patterson Park Assault Victim

Published by Glen under Resources

Website: http://www.zachsowers.com

What happened to Zach could happen to any one of us. But we live and work here because we love our neighborhoods— Canton, Patterson Park, Fells Point, Locust Point, Federal Hill, Inner Harbor— and we have the right to feel safe. Neighbors’ Night Out is a bold statement against crime. On Sunday, August 5, 2007 from 2 - 8 p.m., in honor of Zach, neighbors across Baltimore will meet at select bars and restaurants to drink, dine and send the message that we stand together against violence.

More News on Rash Field Development

Published by Glen under Downtown, Federal Hill, Inner Harbor, Parks

Baltimore’s Rash Field Development RenderingThe Baltimore Sun recently ran an article on the proposed new development plan for the Inner Harbor’s Rash Field at the foot of Federal Hill.  The new plan will include a much needed underground parking garage, a large amount of open green space, and a dog park.  The current volleyball fields will be moved to another section of the park. Although, it looks like they may not be keeping as many courts as currently exist.  Rash Field is not being used well - so the latest proposal looks very promising.

Check out the city’s Rash Field plan - PDF format.
