As some? already know - and can probably better elaborate on - the independent film theater chain Landmark Theaters will be opening in HarborEast.? Their website says? Winter 2007, but it is rumored? to be opening in October.? Yet another reason HarborEast is on fire.

From their website:

Landmark Theatres is the nation’s largest theatre chain dedicated primarily to exhibiting and marketing independent film. Landmark is a recognized leader in the industry for providing consistently diverse and entertaining film product in a sophisticated adult-oriented atmosphere to its customers.

Glen-Thanks for the info on the opening of the Landmark cinemas in Harbor East. Mel-Thanks for adding spell check to this site. In many ways I prefer this site to skyscrapercity because people that post on it tend to be more discreet, less rambling and more focused in what they say. Also, the spelling errors on skyscrapercity are too frequent and I hate Hate HATE when people don’t capitalize the I, it’s so juvenile. This is a wonderful site guys.

GREAT! We need another theatre in Baltimore. A multiplex would be great as well with some mainstream movies. Tourists and residents would love it I’m sure.

Absolutely - The city is severely lacking a nice modern movie theater showing mainstream movies. But a place showing independent type movies will also be a great addition.

I would vote for one of the theater/bar/brewhouse type places. I think that would do well here. There used to be (or maybe still is) one in Annapolis we used to go to.

I can hardly wait for the theatres to open! Unlike most places, they actually pop their own pop corn, instead of bringing it in already popped and just reheating it. They also put real melted butter on, if you want that. I love supporting the Charles and Senator theatres, but they could both stand some updating. I hope that the added competition will help spur that on.
