The Shoppes at Fort – Locust Point

Published by Glen at 9:29 pm under Apartments,Commercial / Office,Locust Point

It seems that the name “The shoppes at Fort” or “The Shops at Fort” is being thrown around for the new commercial, business, and residential development at the site of the former Chesapeake Paperboard company.? The property sits basically on the corner of Fort Avenue and Woodall street in Locust Point.? The property is behind the Fort Ave. firehouse, and will also have future access via Key Highway.

Heard about this – there was an article on Baltimore Sun a while back. Any word on what stores will be moving in? Guess it may be too early for that, but heard there was a super market moving in. Which is somewhat surprising since the Shoppers is 1 block over. But I know most of us would love to shop somewhere else.

Yeah too early for specific business. I believe the PUD zoning bill that was submitted allows for 4 liquor licenses. One was for a liquor store and the other 3 for restaurants. The project is being driven based on a major grocery store moving in. At one point Gruals was the leading candidate, but now it is the somewhat upscale Harris Tetter. But nothing is guaranteed. The project allows for up to about 250 apartments. The apartments are supposed to be “high-end” with 1 bedroom units renting for $1,000+ a month.
